Big A little a

Went to see Big A little a in some loft, out in Bushwick. It's the third time I see them and I love the energy of their performances. Four drummers, feedback and screaming makes a whole lot of beautiful noice.

Others prefer silence.

All the furniture we have we've found on the street. The selection may not be as wide as at IKEA but hey, it's free! I guess someone brought home a whole bunch of boards to build a wall or something and never ended up using them all, so they were just left in a pile outside the door.

Brooklyn rats

You see rats here everyday. Looking out of the office window in Dumbo I saw the biggest one I've ever seen, it was as big as a rabbit and ran across the building site across the street. This however is just ridiculous...

Free food is good food

The Soup Man, up on 57 st somewhere, is more like the Soup Fairy than the Soup Nazi, as it was known on Seinfeld. They're always really nice and last time we ended up getting dinner on the house. It may not look that great in the picture but trust me, it's damn good soup!

On the way home we passed this eh, piece of art on Bedford Ave. Good thing they chained it down or someone might run off with it!

Pasta!

Matteo at the Italian label Pasta just sent me this pic. I recently designed five or so graphics for them. Should be in the stores sometime this summer. Ask someone from Sweden what the text says.

Stencil Graffiti Capital: The Exhibition

So last night was the photo exhibition and launch party for our book Stencil Graffiti Capital: Melbourne at the Until Never Gallery in Melbourne, Australia. Over 1000 people passed through the doors and a whole stack of books and prints were sold. I so wish I could have been there to meet everyone again. Damn.

Sudden winter

When I woke up, snow covered Brooklyn and the news was screaming about the worst blizzard in 47 years.

Coming from Sweden, it's a bit hard to understand the chaos a few inches of snow causes here. This is nada but beautiful.

Good luck getting to work tomorrow.

Of course we had to get up on the roof to check it out.

Home sweet home.

Guess who dropped her hat all the way down two seconds before this picture was taken.

Timbuktu at Scenic

Went to see Timbuktu at Scenic last thursday. Was good but unfortunately the crowd sucked, so it wasn't as fun as it should have been. There are so many homesick people from Sweden in NYC. Everytime a Swedish band plays they all go there, even if they don't like the music. Of the people in the audience that night maybe five would have come if it had been back home. Too bad the usual Scenic crowd wasn't there.

Film Title of the Century

That's not a frisbee

On my way home a few nights ago I caught what I thought was a frisbee that someone threw at me. Didn't notice the bleeding at first and threw it back. Still don't know what it was but it was sharp! Goodbye fingertips.

To make me happy again Anna cut off some heads for me.

Happy 4704!

We went to Chinatown to check out their new year celebrations. Dragons and confetti galore. These kids were really cool though and probably the most photographed dragon this year.

Because of the boring laws here in NY, fireworks are illegal. So instead of the amazing fireworks show you'd expect from the Chinese, they had a firecracker show. It was about as exciting as it looks. Poff.

This is what we in Sweden call krimskrams.

Cut your hair and quit your job

I got bored and to get something to do I decided to chop off my hair. I always use razor blades when I cut it and this time I only cut my finger three times. I'm so proud.

Anna snapped another pic, nice and green.

Show and tell

Josh McPhee, author of Stencil Pirates, held the exhibition Paper Politics in Dumbo, about a block away from where I work. I've had paintings in several shows that he's organized, so it was great to finally meet.

And here's something I did for another show. This time organized by Jimmy Au, in Hong Kong. Jimmy is one of the guys behind the Sneaker Freaks shows and was also the guy who guided me around Asia on the K-spray tour. He's given trains to about a million artists to paint or do whatever they like with them. This is my wreck. End of the line bitch.

Anna and the darkness

Anna arrived and everything went black.

Like magic.

Bright lights big Avid

Big Avid came over from Lapplandshelvetet to visit over new years.

Oh, and I got a new place! After months of sleeping on floors, roofs and sofas having a bed to sleep in feels like heaven. Great roomies and an insane view. If I only didn't have to work I'd sit here all day looking out the windows doing nada. Mmm, the good life.

We went and saw the One Man Star Wars show the day before new years. Insane! It was probably the funniest shit I've ever seen on a stage. Dressed in grey mechanic overalls he played all parts himself, did all music and special effects. There is no way to explain this, you just have to see it. Too bad you can't. The last date was on new years eve, haha. You'll just have to wait for the One Man Lord of the Rings Trillogy... should start playing in March I think. Don't miss out on that one.

After the show Mr Slask was so overwhelmed that he started transforming into a faceless monster. Avid looks a bit sceptical.

Went to Sidewalk Café to check out some bands. Nothing exciting really but this guy was cool, looked like a perfect copy of Stig-Helmer Olsson. He was awesome. Played some music and did the worst stand up ever. He was so good we had to leave.

For new years we ended up at Scenic as always, it seems like. And of course Nalle had his camera ready. His red vampire eyes catches every bouncing tit. Check out his latest project New York Nightlife for some pics.

Parenthesis

Yes, my parents came over for xmas and timed it perfectly for the subway strike. After work I had to walk all the way from Dumbo up to Central Park to welcome them. They had brought grandma's cookies, so it was worth it... ok, it was my sister who made the cookies but from farmors recepie (not quite the same taste, hrmhrm).

Went up on my roof to see the view at night. Lots of lights.

And here's more lights... this is something I doubt my generation appreciates as much as my parents. Makes me jealous. They move and blink. Wow.

This however I did enjoy. We went and saw the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. The intro was a pretty nice 3d movie. I could almost poke Santa in the nose!

And of course we had to check out probably the best book for sale at Barnes & Noble, Stencil Graffiti Capital
